He read it aloud to the others.

“And there you have it!” Lessa said.

Jace nodded, then looked back at Kinfild. “So…whenever you two are ready, then. I should be able to pass through those bars. We need a plan.”

“We have to be getting close,” Kinfild said. “We would be wise to break out sooner than later, while we only have to deal with the crew of the ship.”

“And then what?” Lessa asked. “We just turn it around and get out? Fly back to Lyvarion, pick up the Luna Wrath?”

Jace shook his head. “We’re going to Explorer's Penitence, right? And there’s a dungeon there?” He crossed his arms. “Kinfild, you said dungeons were the best way to improve. What if, at the same time, we hijack their dungeon and use it for ourselves?”

Kinfild considered for a moment, then sighed. “I would say it sounds like a terrible idea, but I doubt you’ll listen.”

Jace shrugged. “Probably not. I can’t deny there’s danger, but…are we even going to be able to get offworld in our state? And even if we do, what then?” He shook his head. “We’ve painted a target on our backs already, and Stenol is after us.”

“And he likely has Watchmen under his control,” Kinfild commented. “If he can get through the wall so easily. What are the chances he unleashes the Watchmen on us?”

“Not sure exactly what that entails,” Jace said, “but exactly. We can’t pass up an opportunity like this.” He was quiet for a few seconds, then said, “I’ll dash out and grab my stuff, and then we can break you out, take over the ship and get to the surface.”
